a silver crest
branded on tempered steel
red eyes glaring
through eye slits cut
breath mists
enshrouds the dark head
steady hands holding sword
point down, slay the ground
gleaming light
shining off high polished armor
cared for and responsible
holding tight
the knight’s life
to keep and guard
the knight’s duty same

vigilant in the night
tempered steel polished bright
keen sword cuts the light
held by the dark knight

a simple cloth
hanging over thin shoulders
tired eyes staring
from a woman’s face
breath misting
tangles about her feet
weary hands holding stave
keeping up, prodding the ground
tarnished light
filtering around a dirty cloak
only garment and only guard
clutched tight
the peasant’s life
to work and live
a simple peasant woman

dark eyes pierce the night
watching peasant without might
a victim of the blight
bowing head, the dark knight

black platinum shield
abandoned next to post
keen sword sheathed
to free gauntleted hands
red eyes full of compassion
such a dark night
and such a dark knight
a strong hand guides
her
carries and supports
her
in her eyes, no fear
her lips part to smile
back straightening a little
to step, to walk
with the help
of a dark knight

a silver crest
branded on tempered steel
black as midnight
red eyes glowing
keen sword to strike
all foes away
one dark knight
abandoned post at night
to safely guide
a peasant woman
who saw the silver cross
branded on black steel
