Beneath the Moon

Here, alone again, she finds herself
waiting beneath the silent moon.
As the starlight dances upon her skin
His words echo: "I'll see you soon..."
She traces the edge of a motionless pond
and gazes at her own reflection.
At the very moment her eyes meet her own
The pond is broken of its frozen perfection.
A timeless beauty but shattered by the torment
of knowing the one she loves has gone away.
All alone, she suffers the endless tears,
awaiting the day he'd come to stay.
And stay forever she prayed he would
because her heart was full of his face and name.
Though her heart was only half of once before,
he held the other half with a lover's flame.
But she can't help but wonder day and night
if she was the one that he loved still.
He's been gone so long that she feels so weak;
the burning thoughts of her love forsaken kills.
Laying so helpless under the night sky,
the unknown is unbearable and she wonders why
she loves him like she does when he's so far away
and his love for her, he hides deep inside.
She wanders the depths of her mind forever more
as the night grows darker under the silent moon.
She whipers into the shadows, I love you, to him
When from the darkness came: "I'll see you soon..."
