Let us walk down to the river side,
Come along now my tear-stained bride.
All the men and women who have died
Float down to the river bed.

Eat this pomegranate my dear.
No, now you have nothing to fear,
And with every step we grow near
To our meeting at the river bed.

We will walk down to the river side,
Come along now my tear-stained bride.
Who remembers now why you cried?
The answer waits near the river bed.

You may return to your mother this spring.
Oh what joy and growth your return will bring!
But always remember that I am your king,
And return to me by the river bed.
