Take My Heart

And then she fell
and she shattered like glass.
Her steal heart
was all that made it
through the crash.

She tried to pick it up
and it snapped in two.
She kept the pieces close
but they were always
too far apart.

But before she could give up
and idea crept into her mind.
And she showed up
at his doorstep
holding out half of her heart.

Bewildered he looked
for some clue in her eyes.
But all he saw was hope,
hope that he would oblige.

He put his hand over hers
and took his half of her heart.
"Be careful" she said,
and he gave a smile
that lit up both halves of her heart.
