Possessive Hatred

You leave me
To drown in the lies I never said.
With the tears I never owned
And the screams I never birthed.
You glare at me
With a meaning only I understand.
It speaks of just how much
I need you to hate me
So I can feel the need
To make you love me.
Again you leave me
With the questions I didn’t ask.
With the self-hatred I didn’t harbor
And the doubt I never thought of.
You laugh at me
In a vicious undertone only I sense.
It whispers of how you know
That even after you wipe the floor
With the remnants of my pride…
I will still come back to you
Just begging to be loved.
