One Day In My Life

He stammers out into the room
Watches as his parents fight
Takes awhile before a hit
Wide eyes glare at them both
His mother screams ive had enough
Storms out to leave him there
His father eyes him with frustrated thoughts
Runs back to his room
Cuddles his knees in the corner
His dad slamming and punching the door
Hearing his father scream..
Its time to get up
Awake he is...just a dream
Memories haunt him at night
Thinking about it but not to much
Direct heat from the water
As it feels up his skin
Wakes him fully
Pulls on his clothes
Long black and white sleeves
And his black slacks
And buttoned them blind
'You cant help who you are'
His mother whispered into his ear
When he was fourteen
Three years later
He still remembers everything about her
Her deep red hair, her perfumy scent
The way she murmured into his hair
Stares himself in the mirror
At his black hair and eyes
Darkness is around him
It shows in his face
Mother called him 'photograph baby'
Black and white all around
His dad screamed through walls
So he edges away from his reflection
And walks towards the door
As the car nears the school
His dad faces him and states
'Never be late, i hate it when your late'
Ignoring him completely, he starts to step out
Dad grabs his wrist firmly
Ian stares back, obviously in pain
A stern look and a reminder voice
'Don't be late', then he lets go and drives off
Rubbing his wrist, walking to the school door
He edges near, his buddy jumps on him
And says, 'Dude what's up with your dad?'
He shrugs and keeps walking
The time goes by, and classes gone
English was a blast and as his teacher calls him
'A gifted, poetic child'
Math class came, his worst subject yet
Got called up to the board
He doesn't know what to do
As he gets up, he hears whispers
Whisper, laugh and whisper again
Laughing until he cant take it
Drops the chalk and runs out of the room
Into the bathroom he goes
Glances in the mirror
Stares at his eyes, and runs into a stall
Sits there with tears in his eyes
Looks at the toilet paper dispenser
Punches the metal where you rip it off
It falls to the floor
He picks it up, and holds it still
Pulls his sleeve up over his elbow
Watches the steel carve into his skin
Nice and deep, crimson ink flooding
Through the cracks of pale white
Hears the bell ring
And hurrys back to the classroom
Grabs his stuff and runs outside
Spots two pretty girls by the flowers
Leans towards one and says 'Lovely Flower'
The girls laugh and one points to his arm
'One of the thorns must of got you, your bleeding'
He stares down at his arm, the blood seeped through
He glances back up to see the girls
But they have already walked away
Feelings embarassed and alone
He walks home
Dinner was the same, he wasn't late
As he drags off his clothes
And thinks of the horrible day
Just to make sure he's not dreaming again
He bleeds once more
