Relief

You reside in your room,
Knife in a hand,
Your eyes read doom,
And in silence you stand.
The sudden urge,
Again, in your mind,
To cut everything away,
To leave it all behind.

But the pressure won't work,
When you've fallen asleep,
And the silence ain't awkward,
When you've started to weep.
Do you think the birds chirp,
When they're shot down with lead?
'Cause baby, there ain't no relief,
When you lie on the floor - dead.
