i want to breathe in his soul & rule his love
i want to be the one in his mind, body & soul
watching him die was too painful
watching him cry was too much for my heart to bare
buried his body & watched as he was taken from me
i held his chaotic body as he took his last breath
i died ten thousand times that day
they brought him back to me, then he left again
it burned the humanity out of me
i cut out this heart of mine
i let my soul bleed out of me
i won't let myself forget him
i lost everything I cared about
now i have nothing left to make me care
nothing is here for me but death
nothing is left but the pain
only this lifeless body remains
only a shell of a person is left
nothing good will come of it
nothing great will ever happen to it
nothing is what i have become
since the day he took his life away

In memory of Matthew James Hollifield
