There we are
Don't you see us?
Walking from your house to mine
As it is starting to drizzle
We skip down the red brick side walk
And talk of dancing in the rain
Getting caught in a downpour
And screaming at the top of our lungs
From being so blissfully happy together
The clouds form darker over our heads
And we can hear thunder in the distance
We laugh and scream and giggle
As many happy girls do
You frolic and watch me
Dance down the sidewalk
I don't care who sees me
The cars buzz by
Some people turn and look at me
I still dance with my eyes closed
And my mouth opens with a big smile
We feel so free together
Like little kids again
When we get to my house
We run inside and warm up in my room
We both squeeze into my computer chair
And talk about many things
Like Boys, toys, and sleepovers
Guys, cocktails, and parties
The thunder claps and the downpour starts
We exchange a wondrous amazement
And run up to the top deck
Overlooking all of the harbor
We are soaked the second we step outside
There is a distant sunlit sky
Beyond the distant ocean
And lightning strikes a few miles away
The harbor is quiet
Except for the lowed hush of the rain
They are the biggest raindrops ever
And we start spinning in independent circles
Dancing spontaneously and laughing beautifully
We take each other's hands and start spinning around really fast
As we lose control of ourselves
We grab each other closer
And hold on tight wishing this moment
This beautiful moment would never end
And it didn't
I can still taste the rain drops
I can still hear the hush over the harbor
And I can still feel you holding on
Holding on so tight to me
And I still know how much you love me
And I you
Cause some things never change
Like dancing in the rain
