And as we walked our usual path down the street
you looked me up and down.
Told me we had it all, we couldn't possibly fail
And someday we'll own it all.
And I smiled into your eyes, wishing us the best
because we were soulmates, lovers, friends.
You took me up in your arms and carried me as you pleased
and watched me erupt in laughter and my eyes shine.
You knew at that moment you had all of me.
...We passed the landscape that you adored
- as we walked you told me you loved me more.
And I blinked then smiled; looked straight into you
and spoke into your heart, saying, "I know."
The wind cut through us and tore at our skin,
but you touched my heart and warmed us both within.
And you walked a few steps behind me;
You made sure I could make it on my own.
But you grew restless and needed me so bad,
you quickened to join my side, and grabbed my hand.
I slipped into a trance, lost in our romance,
Ambling down the road of your fancy.
But you said you couldn't bear to be alone,
and couldn't stand those nights you knew I wasn't there.
You said you needed me, needed to love me,
and that you couldn't live if it wasn't with me.
At that very moment, you promised eternity.
I bowed my head in shame, because I knew your games.
The hill of our love became suddenly steeper;
the flowers that adorned us died away, at your word.
You looked at me again, commanded me to walk,
but I was weary with the love you kept from me.
...And we walked. Walked by everything we desired to own.
Somehow, our someday was washed away and you couldn't say
anything of your love and the pain we faced anyway.
And I looked away from your eyes stinging with rain
while trying to calm my raging heart.
If we were both so tired, why walk from the start?
Fools always seem to get lost...
...I loved you that day I stopped walking and ended my chase.
-I watched the back of your head as your pace quickend with haste.
