What I've Become

Eyes tight shut,
lips pursed together,
wishing this weight on my shoulders,
was as light as a feather.
Locking myself in,
this inescapeable cage,
my mind filling with sorrow,
and captivating rage.
Smiles into frowns,
goals into hopeless dreams,
never a way out,
or so it always seems.
It happened so fast,
I never wanted to be,
this mysterious stranger,
this unwanted me.
