Winter Playground

Swings sway in motion
As if ghost children are
Enjoying a ride from a
Day long since past.

Wind blows ever so
Steadily, effortlessly
Swings sway in motion
Angels take a turn.

Rain falls endlessly
Baptizing the earth
Rainbow wraps up
A gift to be opened in spring.

As the rain attacks
The slide playing an
Ancient melodies
Rain falls endlessly.

The jungle gym becomes
An ice cave of mystery
Too cold to explore
Too slippery to climb.

Grass grows freely
Greener now than
In the summer
Too cold to explore.

Playground now is playless.
No children can come to visit.
Winter is still upon us...
As we long for summer.

As we long for summer.
