Didn't You Know

Her lips form a fake smile
The one that will fool
The one that hides her emotion
While she’s trying to keep her cool

You’ve hurt her bad
Look at what you’ve done
She hides behind that fake smile
You’ve destroyed her happiness and fun

You were part of her world
Didn’t you know?
She opened up her heart
You brought her down to an all-time low

You left her with a promise
Something she believed would come true
Now the faint wish that once was bright
Is blown out and you drift far off too

You leave her wondering,
Wondering if she did something wrong
For you to leave her for someone else
To ditch her like you planned all along

Didn’t you know?
You’ve meant so much to her
You were her knight-in-shining armor
So why’d you leave her, what is your answer?

Her heart cries out in such despair
To be stupid enough to keep falling
Only to hit the bottom with such pain
Crashing, breaking, and shattering

Didn’t you know?
There was more than what you see
That false smile that she plasters on
The same one that belongs to her and me.
