Shadowpuppet

Lying here beside you--
I am ripped from the inside out.

I feel the soft kiss
from the outside moon
and follow its outstretched hand
to a spot on the wall.

There I have found my SHADOWPUPPET;
a blurred-charcoal shading of ME.

The cold hand beside me reaches in deeper;
afraid it might begin to pull at my heart...
I melt into the covers
and become one with my shadowpuppet.

I cease to feel,
I cease to hurt,
I cease to be;

And you just continue without notice.
