watching the world
through the eyes of a stranger.
holding the pain
in a glass of wine.
her diamond jeweled fingers,
her satin gloved hands.
has it ever meant a thing?
watching the world
through the eyes of a stranger.
blood red lips
they kiss the face so pale.
her mascara eyes,
her rogue cheeks.
it never meant a thing.
she is the great pretender.
she watched the world
through the eyes of her own stranger.
she drinks from her glass
from the mouth of the different.
she wipes her eyes when she cries
with the hand of the unknown,
knowing she is the great pretender.
