The Fight

He was a perfect gentlemen,
that's what her parents thought.
He liked long talks, and romantic movies.
He told her she was pretty and loved her company;
and he never lost his temper when they fought.

They spent every moment possible
giving each other their time.
He told her he was in love with her smile,
said he hadn't felt this happy in a while.
But somehow things would never be fine.

She promised him her fidelity
she knew she'd always stay true.
It wasn't hard at all a promise to keep
but dreams kept coming to her when she would sleep.
It was the wrong face, and tension grew.

Time passed and they grew privately stressed;
They were unsure of how the other feels.
Her dreams of the wrong face got to her at night,
but there was no way to win, so she gave up the fight.
She's so sorry but the dreams are just too real.

He's left in the shadows now,
He'll never understand and he knows this.
He wants her to love him more than any before,
he wants to be the one that she wants more.
So he's left with tears, dying for her kiss.

She loves him but is scared.
She doesn't know what paths to take.
Love broke her once and it'll break her again,
and he'll break her too it's just a matter of when.
She knows that it's his heart she'll break.

Tears falling from both now,
each one needing to know what's going on.
The pain grows as does the face in her mind,
The memories in her she wishes to leave behind,
But they were with her all along.

Goodbye kiss on just the cheek,
She lost herself in her thoughts.
But he loves her still, and always will too;
She'll miss his company, the times they went through,
and how he never lost his temper when they fought.
