A WELDER BY TRADE

THEY CALLED HIM A CHRISTIAN
EVERYWHERE HE WENT.
HIS WORDS WERE NOT GREAT
ONLY THE TIME ON PEOPLE HE SPENT.

A CHEERFUL VOICE HE HAD
AND A WELCOMING KIND OF SMILE
MADE YOU WANT TO STOP AND REST
AND JUST SIT AND TALK AWHILE.

HIS HANDS WERE QUITE ROUGH
BEING A WELDER BY TRADE.
HE WAS EAGER TO SHAKE YOURS
AND YOU WERE ONE MORE FRIEND HE MADE.

HE LOVED HIS FAMILY GREATLY.
THE LITTLE ONES WOULD LIGHT UP HIS HEART.
LOVE AND LAUGHTER WAS ALWAYS HIS GIFT
EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE MILES APART.

THERE WAS ONE THING THAT STOOD OUT
THAT MAKE THIS SIMPLE MAN GREAT.
IT WAS THE LOVE OF HIS LORD JESUS
THAT HE DID SO EASILY IMITATE.
