Portrait of Friendship

I never had to watch the night sky
or scour the palette of so many sunsets,
for the perfect colors to paint our portrait
Lie somewhere hidden by our minds that beget
So many obstacles and treacherous paths to break through.
Yet somehow they all lead to you.
And when I find myself unable to breathe,
I know that at sunrise, the colors start anew,
to paint between the mornings twilight stars
with strokes, so few, yet with so many shades
of the most perfect purple, pink, and orange hues.
I did it all, yes all for you these I made;
but when the clouds gather, and wash away my canvas,
they will clear. And my stars for you may collide,
but I'll collect the dust and create gold
to place upon your hurt and pain inside.
Only for you, this canvas stays alive
with colors of my heart, though so small.
I have the love of a true best friend
And that is the greatest love of all.
