Rather than behind
And kept promises
To those who meant more to me than life.

Up to someone who wasn’t worth my time.

And noticed
The girl at my side.

Taking back the act
That destroyed her life.

Rather than behind
And told her I loved her back
Rather than pushing her aside.

Now “living” and yet not living at all
I wish I would have done things different
And not given up on her.
Through all my trials, she was still at my side
No matter how much I ignored and pushed away.
I know I made a mistake I can’t undo
Because I see her from above
Visiting my grave more than the girl I thought I knew.
She cried at my funeral more than anyone else
And the girl I used to love just stared up above
No remorse, no sense of loss
If I had a chance to do it all again
I’d set things right and live my life well.
