In Loving Memory

I knew one day it would happen,
I knew the day would come.
When you'd have to leave me forever,
and my life would become so numb.

Then the day came,
I was right there by your side.
I saw you slipping farther away,
my tears could no longer hide.

Your eyes they looked so lifeless,
your hands they felt so cold.
I was there as your breaths faded away,
then my life started to unfold.

The days went on,
and I missed you so much.
Think of you got me through each day,
our bond went untouched.

Why did you have to leave me,
when I needed you the most.
Now my life seems empty,
haunted by these ghosts.

I want you here to hold me,
tell me you were never gone.
That it was all a dream,
a story I had drawn.

Are you thinking of me now,
can you even hear me cry?
Can you hear me shout,
"Why did you have to die?"

Watch over me from heaven,
know I love you very much.
I'll see you again someday,
when our spirits retouch.
