Vigil of the Righteous Vampire

Amidst the porcelain flowers and the decaying skulls,
Sits a dusty tome filled with the memories of all that I once loved.
My inner musings, to keep my own mind locked away.
These insane ramblings serve to distract the bloodlust,
And the prospect of yet another sunless, endless day.

I wish to stop writing, but my hand I cannot stay.
For if I pause to listen,
I can hear the clawing from the other side.
The insatiable scratches that never stop,
That continue all night and all day.

Locked within this last remnant of a dying world,
No one could ever find me,
None would dare to intrude on my domain.
None could ever be so desperately ravenous
As to wish for access to this forsaken domain.
So as the centuries pass, I'll just sit back
And continue to watch, write, and observe...
And maybe one day, when all is explored and understood...
Maybe then, I can emerge into the world.

*Thanks for the pointers Lenore. Hope its better now!*
