Borrowed Heart

There's no guarentee on forever
he said it as he walked away
she wasn't ready to give his heart back
she wanted him to stay

but months before that
she fell into his deep green eyes
the beautiful emerald circles
that covered all of his lies

time and time again
she promised herself
she'd keep her heart until it was right
she had no idea what she was doing
throwing her heart away that night

but he simply said no
when she wanted love in return
he said suffer my beautiful one
I want you to burn

and in my memory
cry in the lonely nights
he said he never promised anything
but gave a good fight

he told me he would never take my pain away
but bring me much heartache
love was never a smooth path
and very seldom does it ever last

I didn't think you'd lease your heart
you said it was all mine
as long as I could keep a steady grip
but you stole it
from my solid hands, you ripped

though I never hurt you
I never even tried
but there was something you did love
when I cryed

There's no sense in holding one heart forever
when it wants to fall away
so I'll go along with your tainted tune
the one that always plays

I'll learn from that borrowed heart
and on here alone
drink to that one too
I won't forget your cold heart
the one that's made of stone
