I lay on the ceiling

I lay on the ceiling
And watch the world go by
I see people be born
And I see people die

The world spins
Around and around it goes
It never stops
It never slows

I lay and watch the people cry
I see our world of hate
You wouldn’t believe our world
Is in such a mystified state

I see people be born
And I see people die
I see people be murdered
And I see people cry

From my place of higher vision
I get to see it all
I get to see the mighty live
And the good sometimes fall

I see the rapes
And I see the hate
And I see the creeps
Good girls shouldn’t date

I try to close my eyes
To shut out all the hell
But I can’t
All I can do is watch and yell

From my place on the ceiling
I can see it all
But I can’t stop any of it
Lest I should fall

But maybe I’m wrong
Maybe I am below
Lying on the floor
Watching from down low

Maybe I am the worst
And they better than I
But their lives be the good?
Now that’s something to make you cry

I leave the ceiling
And I leave the floor
Walk across the room
And open the door

So maybe I’ll go out and see what there really is to see…
