The Moon

When the lights go off in the city,
And everything will be still soon,
I lay down in my bed,
I stare out my window at the moon.
It's my way of silently communicating with the ones I love,
Who are so very far away.
Night is my time when I think of them all,
Because there is not enough time in the day.
The moon brings me comfort,
As I watch it from my windowsill.
It's a special routine for me,
That I do when all is still.
The very moon I watch shines on the people I love,
My way of wordlessly telling them "I love you."
I think how somewhere someone may be watching the moon,
Hoping that they too may see someone soon.
