Raindrops on the windshield
Lights around the bend—blinding
Spinning and sliding on the pavement
Truck coming at the driver
My life flashes before me instantly
Like lightening the car jerks to the side
In a moments time it’s all over
Head pounding, dark and cold
Look around and terror hits
Stomach turns inside out- heart stops
Blood smears the steering wheel and dash
The driver collapsed and helpless
Motionless with no pulse
The pounding of my heart against my chest, unbearable
They take her away and present bad news
“Your mother is dead”
Standing in a world I don’t even know
Powerless and weak without anyone anymore
Tears start falling like the rain on the road
Wake from a dream and grasp life
