Duracell Batteries

You give me my energy
Give me my charge
I can run when you’re here
I can’t think when you aren’t
Emotions, confusions, they’ve all gone away
Till there’s one in my heart;
That’s the one which will stay
You give me that feeling
That feeling of fun
You power me up
Like the light from the sun
But these stupid clichés are not good enough
To explain what I mean using words is too tough.
A fairytale story is rarely quite true
You can tell it’s all breaking by the things people do
Emotions and feelings will not last for ever
But go drifting away like a lost, swirling feather.
Where do they go? And what do they do?
Maybe they come from me, and fly off to you.
Energy exchanges here, there, and now
I want to capture it always, but no-one knows how
Rhyming couplets make it turn fluffy and light
But it’s far more intensive, there’s a deep inner fight
Even if this power could be had every day
I’d want you to be my Duracell batteries anyway.
