I expect you’ll get an ‘A’ dear, in that recent French test
Because your father and I know that you always do best

No mum that’s not true, you know it, you do
I’m not always great, I make mistakes just like you

I think you should start working harder in Maths
So you can achieve a mark even better than Kath’s

No dad it’s not like that, I do try my best
Now and then everyone can do with a rest

We’re all expecting you to do amazingly well
We’re putting our hopes all on you, you’ll excel

No Miss Black that’s not right, why put pressure on me?
There are plenty of people who perform adequately

I want you to play in a concert tomorrow
You’re the lead pianist, the others just follow

I’m sorry but I already have other plans
I just don’t have time to play in your band

Hey, you, I wanted your essay in this morning
I’m talking to you! Don’t just stand there yawning!

I’m going right under, there’s too much stress
There’s a horrible fluttering inside my chest
Let me slow down, don’t put pressure on me
And you’ll see what a calm person I really can be.
Don’t need all your opinions, don’t need your complaints
I will be how I want to be, without your restraints.
