Best friends forever, yeah that's what we said.
Our lives were entwined with eachother, never a minute alone.
We planned our unknown futures ahead.
We would never leave one another, spending hours up late on the phone.
Until one day, we started to change.
Our love was left unchanged, but our interests began to differ.
Our maturity started to have a much greater range.
But the difference was estranged, and the one's will for the friendship
began to wither.
At first it wasn't very noticable, just a few missed calls,
Then it grew into a few missed parties, then a lot of missed time
together.
Enough to where people started to notice, that we were never together at
all.
The one started to wean her friend, trying to make her need kindle, but
that wouldn't happen, wouldn't happen at all.
She began to grow tired, of having her friend tag along.
She wanted her to leave, just to permanantly be gone.
But their love for eachother was still so strong,
The thought of hurting her, made her heart sting like the painful bite of
an angered python.
The thought of her friend, still by her side.
Made her feel secure, yet so agitated like a constant pain in her neck.
She kept dropping hints, trying to set her aside.
But she couldn't endure her friend's heart becoming a wreck.
She didn't want to do it, but her mind was determined.
She finally told her friend, that she wanted to be forgotten.
She never wanted to be mentioned.
She wanted their friendship to end, and that she wished she wouldn't have
made her feel so rotten.
So that's where it ended, right then and there.
No finally goodbyes and no final hug.
As she turned to walk away from her friend forever, the look on her
face, 'twas just a blank stare.
That look went right to her heart, and the deepest it dug.
Since that day on, she's moved on, but her friend has now passed.
She never realized how much her friend needed her.
She still regrets the loss and wish that their friendship could've not
ended, but last.
Now all she has of her once best friend, are just the memories, all in
her mind as a sad, tearjerking blur.
