I'm afraid (Firebrand)

there's something you don't understand
it's everything, slipping like sand
through my fingers, and out of hand
it's everything you just can't stand
that leaves me nothing but a strand
to hang onto, without a hand
you treat me like I'm firebrand!

meant for burning, wither away
never learning night from day
it's always got to be your way
our friendship's beginning to pay
there's something I would like to say
that is, of course, if I may?

there's something you don't seem to see
under my skin, inside of me
how badly I need you to be
less distant, and hold me closely
you don't know how insecurely
I feel about you sincerely

please hold me more closely
becuase I'm fearfully
afraid of you, [sweetie]...
