She layed down broken
It was all in the way he went
He planned it like an escape
His only hope left

He dangled her feelings from the edge
Watching them Pour from his fingertips
And as she watched,
Her heart was slowly falling from the palm of his hands
He shut the door,
Leaving his back to her
He pulled every last piece from their emotional puzzle
Until there was nothing left

He said he couldn’t hear her
When she spoke her loudest
And said he couldn’t feel her
When she touched him ever so tenderly

She thought she made it through to him
She thought she touched his soul
And she told herself she let him see how much he meant

But not even her best would be enough for him
He wanted cruel not kind
He said her beauty began to fade
He told her there was no more apologies left

So he crawled from her bed
Tucked the covers close to her
Placing a note on the pillow
He wrote to her,
Telling her there was nothin more to be said
