As I approach you,
I put on my facade,
But who doesn't these days?
Smile, just smile,
I swear I'm okay,
Trust me, it's better off this way.
Of all the things I've told you,
This is the biggest lie.
Because, inside, I die.
I'm fine, I swear.
I know this sounds so cliche,
But I'm slowly rotting away.
What once was hard as stone,
Is turning into a mushy mess,
Yet I still hide my distress.
I'm sure you never noticed.
And I'm positive you never will.
Just watch me as I unfurl.
