The Bedtime Story

A little girl once sat,
In a dark room,
Lying covered in bed.
The Nightmare before Christmas dolls looking at her,
As she asked her mother to tell her a bedtime story.
"But" said the little girl "make it sweet and sad".
Her mother nodded and recalled something.
"Once there was a very beautiful girl,
She had everything that anybody could want,
But she wasn't happy at all.
Every night before falling asleep next to her boyfriend,
Her grey-blue eyes would begin to leak.
The girls love would look into her eyes and say "what's wrong?",
But every time she opened her mouth she would answer "Nothing".
She would hug him and say nothing until he fell asleep.
But what she really wanted him to do was,
Hold her, kiss her, and tell her that it would all be ok.
And how much she meant to him while she cried.
Since she could never tell him what she wanted,
She couldn't ever really truly be happy.
After one of her crying fits before bed,
Her love stood up and left...
She never saw him again,
And she died that same night,
Of a broken heart."
The little girl looked at her mother,
With tears in her eyes,
And said "I hope that doesn't happen to me..."
Her mother just smiled,
Then sat back recalling the painful memory,
The night her love left and she died of a broken heart.
