So Far Away

You live in England, so far away
Here in Florida I wish you could stay
Many summers ago we had a lot of fun
at lunch, by the pool, mostly in the hot sun

I used to take your hat and you would get mad
I used to cut up and be bad
I used to take your sun glasses from you
This would make you mad too

I would always follow you around,
my counselors would search for me until I was found
But it turned out that you missed it all in the end
That is because you really had found a good friend

For four years we've talked about a lot, including camp
You have even told me about your blue lava lamp
We have discussed life, love and what we've been through
We have discussed school, careers and what we want to do

Even though you live across the sea
you are still very close to me
I wish I could see you every day
if only you didn't live so far away
