Lorenzo

I remember when you told me about Florence
it?s high towers
and stony roads.
You held my hand
and whispered sweet love songs in Spanish.
The night was allusive
stretched out and wild.
My veins were full of spices
coloring my skin into different flavors
that in all of my youth?s beauty was far to alluring for both of our well
beings.
My belly became my temple
shading fondly to the thick feeling that I feel for you.
?Someday? you said ?I?ll take you there and we?ll be free.?
Someday is a strange melody
spoken in rhymes and rhythms
that are meant to defy time.
Sweet Lorenzo,
was my ticket to the calmness of the future.
So long ahead
on that stony road
that led to the high towers
of the Florence that he told me about.
