Why He Had To Die

He walked down the road on a Monday afternoon
Never knowing what would happen too soon
The man was driving in his car
Looking down, not looking far
He started to move out of the way
Still not knowing what would happen that day
The man looked up and with a look of fear
To the left into him the car did veer
After the hit, in the road he did lay
Lying there, his life fading away
The helicopter came and they carried him on
But as it flew, they realized he was gone
A call went out to his mom that night
The caller said he was not all right
To the morgue the next day she did go
Just to confirm what she already did know
At the funeral, everyone was there
As the pastor said this was all unfair
Since then I have not been the same
I wake up each night saying his name
Now each day as I sit and cry
I ask God why he had to die
