I have been unhappy
For quite some time...
The doctor said,
“Take these pills
And you’ll feel fine”
I knew in my mind
That wasn’t the way to go
But I just told myself
Go with the flow

He said it was the best thing to help me
And my mind would again be free
Slowly many months passed by
And yet I was still a lonely guy
But then I met and got to know you
You gave me a chance
When most other girls wouldn’t
I went back and told the doctor,
“No more pills for me”

He told me that’s not the way to part
I told him it wasn’t my brain
That was hurting, it was my heart
He looked at me with a sigh...
Told him I had found you...
Something better than any pill,
Speechless, he now understood why
Because of you I am happy again
And I pray some day soon
You could be more than a friend
