If you were a bird you would be a peacock
Feathers like balloons at a fair
Towering high above your head
A blue so bright it makes my stomach churn

If you were a bird you would be a peacock
Strutting proud and tall
With curious observers in your wake
Your feathers held high

If you were a bird you would be a peacock
Flightless and useless
It’s flashing accessories, as it’s only advantage
Blindingly bright
And sickeningly vain

If you were bird you’d be a peacock
So low to the ground
That your precious feathers are flecked with mud

You wonder why no one pities you
I find it all too clear

You are a nuisance
Too bright too proud
Too incite pity or love

Your shoddy fan of feathers become ugly to those who stare long enough
Like a mouthful of thick caramel mixed with dirt

If you were a bird you would be a peacock
Beautiful and unique
But I’ve seen you inside out
And you’re just like all the others…
