life's lesson

depression
a way of self-expression
a brief session, in life
a time of strife
in deep despair
beyond repair

rain upon the windowpane
droning voices calling my name
silence is all I hear
forgetting all those childish fears
of death, taking one last breath

ebony tears running down my face
these scars leave an everlasting trace
misery is all I see
feeling nothing but apathy

nothingness is all I am
hopelessness, what a mess
desolation in this nation
depression
leaving an eternal impression in my mind

I just need time to heal
this all can’t be real
is this what it’s like to feel
worthless, melancholy, hollow
or just not there?
it’s not fair, but why should I care

depression
life’s lesson
a personal session, of mine
