The Saddest Christmas Wish

All the other children
Asked for candy and toys
But as I climbed upon Santa's lap
I asked for something different
"What would you like?" Santa asked, with a tired look in his eye
Quietly I said
"I want to be happy."
He gave me a strange look and said, "Then be happy!"
I told him it wasn't that easy
But he asked why
He said I was pretty and blessed and a beloved little girl
So I asked the man in the red suit
"Then why does my heart hurt all the time?"
He had a sad look on his face and told me not to cry
But the tears spilled down my face anyway
And my Christmas wish changed
I said to him now,
"Santa, this year I want to die."
