Death In His Eyes

He sits alone everyday
Head hanging low, no words to say
No one can say they’ve seen his eyes
For behind the silence, is where he hides
Beaten and bruised, broken, abused
He watches the world pass him by
He has death in his eyes
Envying those without cares
Eyeing everyone, everything, through his hateful stares
Trying to forget all he’s been through
And the bitter words spoken by people he knew
Never understanding why he’d been told all those lies
Realizing, he thinks he has no reason to live
When the whole time he was just trying to give
“I’ll be this, this is who you want me to be.”
Were the words that packed his mind
Ways to please you, he’d try to find
Trying every way to make you see
You had only pushed him to the edge, last thoughts-
“Who cares? They all hate me.”
His final encounter with his friend the trigger
Now this lonely boy’s gone
Now you’re doing as before, looking down on him once more
This time it’s final though, he had stepped through suicide’s door
Now this time it’s different, you stare at him with eyes of tears
“Why?” you think, “Why hadn’t I helped him while he was still here?”
But don’t worry, the lonely boy is fine
He thinks you’re happy now that he’s left his life behind
You touch him softly, awaiting an answer
His life is over, one last glance, you look at his face
He’s gone now, but to where? Eternity’s place.
You start to leave, again, wondering “Why?”
But now, the lonely boy is looking down at you with death in his eyes…
