Underneath the Bridge

Underneath the concrete
A spot so quiet I could keep
People passing over
As I silently watch the city sleep

Waves creep up to greet me
Touching the rocks beneath my feet
A sensation that’s worth waiting
For night to fall and it comes to meet

The hushing of the twilight
The wind seems to just sweep me away
Into the sparkle of the night light
A world so different from the day

Underneath the bridge
Where creatures harbor alone and wait
As the world takes time to rest
They scurry around till we awake

Feeding on the dreams
The sleepers leave when they wake up
Our former friends devour
The pieces of imagination we don’t take up

Precious morning rises
The bridge shadowing us from the day
Till night falls again after a hard day of reality
And our dreams come to sweep us away
