It should've been me wearing those gowns
taking pictures and turning around.
It should've been me yours for that night
in your arms you holding me tight.
It should've been me the smiles and the laughs
us together dancing slow then fast.
It should've been me arriving home late
getting that last good night kiss from my date.
It should've been me God tell me why
I'm forced to sit home and do nothing but cry.
Lord tell me why when it should've been me
things went all wrong and it just couldn't be.
