My Rose

My blood ran cold for just a moment
My rose had been plucked by a single bullet
Our souls were one and he was golden
For once a wound that I couldn’t heal
The way he smiled and said he could deal
I think to myself that this couldn’t be real
I sat stunned my world had come undone
Almost as if with him my life had begun
I remember the touch of his lips
the way he would whisper “it will always be like this”
and I remember feeling his hand on my hips
As we swam together knee deep in romance
I remember how his eyes would leave me entranced
As we spun around in a nearly endless dance
