This World

How can you bring one into this world?
It spits cruelty and hurt as it turns.
There is no one here that deserves
the harshness of strangers' words.

If only we could control or stop
what these people talk about,
maybe then we might feel safe,
and start to live life at a steady pace.
Instead we all just go around
listening to rumors of someone in town.

Most adults seem to think it's okay,
not noticing that kids repeat what they say.
It isn't safe for them to fear
the unfair judgement of their peers,
because this is their age to shout and cheer
but instead they have to fear
All the things they talk about,
all the things they scream and shout.

If there was a way to make this end
then maybe we could all be friends
I guess it's time to accept,
that as hard as we try, this world isn't perfect...
