Rebirth

In a cloud of joyful waiting
For love's inevitable rebirth
But your words break my wings
And I plummet toward the earth

You know I love you so
Why do you break my heart?
There's nowhere else to go
And my spirit falls apart

I build a wall around my heart
Complete with steel and thorns
Sadness becomes anger
Because our love was not reborn

So thank you for the scars
That I no longer can deny
I sit here in the cold darkness
Just simply wondering why

A tongue of stinging poison
Causing others to be hurt
All because of what you did
And the cancellation of rebirth

So again, thanks for the blood
That stains the pure white sheets
I hit the ground so hard
You were the cause of my defeat.
