The house is quiet around me,
Heartily leafed branches swaying in a gentle breeze.
On the carpeted floor,
Lying beside you,
My most faithful companion.
Your breath is easy,
Deep in sleep.
A faint snore catches every now and then.
You’re so warm beside me,
I curl up against you,
As we have curled together so many nights,
You warming my feet
Like the wonderful friend you are.
Never leave me, my beloved dog.
What would I do without you?
