Without a Beat
Her messy, long blond hair blows in the breeze,
Her little pink skirt ruffles underneath the shade of the trees.
Her half-hearted smile is filled with frightened pain,
As she hides from her loving enemy out in the rain.
Her big blue eyes are occupied with fear,
As her angry mommy slowly walks near.
A little girl that is only five years of age,
Quivers in fright of her own mommy's rage.
Her mother puts out her hand and her daughter backs away with dread,
Remembering all the times those hands have caused her to bled.
Even when her mommy cares and tries to hold her hand,
The little girl cringes, not knowing what is planned.
She used to scream for help but her daddy would never come,
Nothing but pain is what her life has become.
Now she just stands there and takes the hurt,
Leaving her crying outside, fallen in the dirt.
Knowing of nothing else she assumes this is how it's suppose to be,
No longer does she cry for help, no longer does she try to flee.
Her daddy yells and her mommy screams at their own little daughter,
She is being hit and slapped as they try to drown her in the bathtub water.
She escapes but is caught around her throat by her mothers grip,
She is choking as she is shocked by the strike of a whip.
Her tears sting her bruised and cut-up face,
She has given up and dropped out of the race.
Struggling to breathe her lungs give out,
Her heart is racing as her tries to shout.
It is now over, her heart left without a beat,
With her mommy she could not compete.
She is now pale and still, though her tears still roll,
Down her face, her ghost cries out as a lifeless soul.
There lies a girls innocent life, without a beat, cold and alone,
Weak and helpless, if someone would have only known.
