Box Garden

The slanting rays of the morning sun
Illuminate my sanctuary,
A box atop my windowsill
Full of green and quite contrary

Sprouts of varying shapes and sizes
Twist together in a sea of green
Searching for the light of day
That they act as though they've never seen

Happy to see me every day
(If only for the water I bring)
They’re always green and full of life
A fact that makes my poor heart sing

The world is full of spiteful things
Of cruelty and lies
And after that my happy plants
Are quite the sight for soar eyes.
