Before It Could Ever Be

I will never be the same,
After what you did to me,
You blew out the flame,
Before it could ever be.

You took me and held me tight,
And lovingly kissed me long,
Said the feelings were right,
Said how we did belong.

You told me how you felt,
Secrets you've never told,
The pain and how you dealt,
This I did behold.

Forever we kissed,
You told me you cared,
I was in for a twist,
And was very unprepared.

On that same day,
You told me this couldn't be,
"Sorry it turned out this way,
I have to go, I have to be free."

Within seconds you snatched my heart,
And shattered it on the ground,
Pieces gone and broken apart,
All these feelings were profound.

I see your perfect smile,
And dream of that kiss,
I know it has been a while,
But you I will always miss.

I will never be the same,
After what you did to me,
You blew out the flame,
Before it could ever be.
