Distant Dream

When we were young,
We had no hopes or dreams,
We never gave up,
We would do anything it seems.

We were invincible,
We could do anything,
Be anyone we wanted to be,
Someone famous or the king.

Something inside told us,
That anything we wanted could be true,
No one told us otherwise,
Until we got older and grew.

With each insult that chipped away,
They told us of how we would fail,
How we could never become famous,
Our believing in ourselves was too frail.

Our reality became a distant dream,
That we would no longer reach for,
Our success was shoved in the dirt,
Not trying what we would have before.

As we grow older,
That faith seems to diminish,
No longer trying,
Thinking we can't finish.

To succeed you need to find your inner child,
To believe in whatever you want to get,
Know you can do it,
Without even breaking a sweat.

When we were young,
We had no hopes or dreams,
Taught we would fail,
Now reach for the extremes.

Don't let others tell you no,
Don't let what you want become a distant dream,
Live for what you wanted as a child,
Just believe and you can be supreme.
